The Park Nuclear Oak Ridge Facility Successfully Completes NUPIC, Joint Utility Audit
OAK RIDGE, Tenn. — Park Nuclear announced today that its Oak Ridge, Tennessee facility has successfully received an ASME NQA-1 program audit conducted by a joint utility team of four NUPIC member utilities. The facility is now listed by NUPIC as supplier number 6413 (NIAC#333).
Park Nuclear established its Oak Ridge facility to operate under a Nuclear Quality Assurance-1 (NQA-1) compliant Quality Assurance program, supporting commercial-grade dedication, seismic testing, reverse engineering, and repair for the nuclear power industry. The NUPIC audit evaluates that program against the standard utilities use when qualifying suppliers for safety-related work under 10 CFR 50 Appendix B. The audit provides the means for our nuclear utility customers to qualify Park Nuclear Oak Ridge as a supplier of safety related equipment and services.
“Successfully completing this audit is an important validation of what we have built in Oak Ridge and demonstrates the strength of our NQA-1 Quality Assurance Program and the capabilities of our team,” said Michael Christianson, President of Park Nuclear. “As the nuclear fleet faces increasing equipment obsolescence and supply chain challenges, utilities need qualified suppliers with the experience and technical capabilities to develop solutions where traditional sources may no longer exist. This milestone gives our customers greater confidence in Park Nuclear and reinforces our commitment to being a trusted, long-term resource for the nuclear industry.”
Utilities in the United States and abroad are working to keep an aging reactor fleet running safely, which means qualifying suppliers who can dedicate commercial-grade components to safety-related use, on schedule and within budget. With the NUPIC audit complete, the Park Nuclear Oak Ridge facility is positioned to support that work for domestic utility customers today, with a program built to extend to nuclear operators internationally. Utilities evaluating suppliers for upcoming outages or supplier qualification can contact Park Nuclear to discuss how the Oak Ridge facility fits their program.
