Foxboro SPEC 200 System
The SPEC 200 is an analog control system that has supported nuclear plant operations for over 40 years. It remains in service today at approximately 70% of U.S. nuclear plants, commonly installed in Non-Safety & 1E safety-related systems. The system processes a wide range of input signals from field instruments, converting them into 0–10 VDC signals used by the system’s signal conditioning components housed within SPEC 200 nests.
These nests, along with their associated cards, are configured to perform specific control functions and provide outputs to critical equipment such as control devices, indicators, annunciators, and emergency shutdown systems. SPEC 200 display instruments are typically mounted flush within 202S series panel shelves. The full system includes power supplies, analog control computing cards, input/output cards, nests, and interconnecting cables.
